Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues along with their solutions that we've seen in the setup of the Content Test Application.

I didn't receive the link to install the Content Test Application

Please confirm with your Xbox program representative that the correct email has been configured for access.

You can check to see if you have access to the app at the App Center Install Portal.

I cannot connect to my Xbox Development Kit

Please make sure you have followed the steps in Setting up your development kit and that you have network connectivity between the client device and the XDK Dev Kit.

  • XDK Dev Kit has public internet access (access to Xbox Live is required)
  • XDK IP address used to connect from the client is the main IP address of the console as displayed in Dev Home
  • Ensure a network route is in place, test using ICMP (Ping) for the client to the XDK Dev Kit. Android (Google Play Store) has a number of 'Ping Tools' available which can be used to check network connectivity

Network connection requirements:

  • UDP Protocol connectivity is required
  • NAT and network proxies are generally not an issue (but may impact performance)
  • HTTP (TCP only) proxies are not supported
